This easy, classic spaghetti and meatballs recipe is a favourite at home, especially when you are craving some comfort food!

Serves at least 4 people.

Ingredients for meatballs:

- ⅓ cup seasoned breadcrumbs

- ¼ cup of milk

- 550g of ground pork and beef blend

- 1 egg

- 1 tsp dried oregano

- 2 garlic cloves (crushed/minced)

- ⅓ cup grated Parmesan

- ½ tsp black pepper

- 1¼ tsp sea salt

Ingredients for sauce:

- 2 tbsp olive oil

- 4 garlic cloves (crushed/minced)

- 1 tsp dried oregano

-1 large can of peeled whole tomatoes (796 ml)

- ½ of the tomato can of water

- ¼ tsp black pepper

- ¾ tsp sea salt

Directions: In a mixing bowl, soak your breadcrumbs with the milk for a few minutes until the crumbs are no longer dry.

Then add in all the remaining of your meatball ingredients.

I like to grate my garlic and parmesan in with a microplane grater as it saves on washing up and is easy. Do not over mix the meatball mixture as you will get tough meatballs. Just mix to combine.

Now you can shape your meatballs. I like to use a small ice cream scoop to help shape my balls and make them into the same size to help with the cooking time. However, you can either eye ball about a tablespoon size meatball or use a spoon to help. From here, you can either place them all onto a baking tray to use right away or you can put some plastic wrap on the bottom of your baking tray and stick it in the freezer and bag it up once frozen and keep it in the freezer for future use. Once all the meatballs are ready, you can prepare your sauce. I like to start with the olive oil and garlic in a cold pan. Once both are in the pan then you can turn on your heat. This will prevent the garlic from burning.

Once fragrant, you can add your dried oregano and tomatoes.

I like to use my hands to crush the whole tomatoes a bit. But if you don't like to touch it you can pour it in and use the back of a wooden spoon to break it up. Then using the same can, fill it to half with water and add to your pan.

Let it come to a boil and then turn it down to medium heat to simmer. Now you can add your meatballs and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.

Once meatballs are done, then you can season your sauce with salt and pepper.

Serve on top of cooked spaghetti or your pasta of choice and enjoy!
